AI Fashion Week #2
2023

I was very proud to be selected as a finalist for the second season of AI Fashion Week, an innovative competition held by Maison Meta.

With a simple but not easy to achieve brief of creating a unique and modern fashion collection with AI tools alone, I spent a few weeks of the Australian summer pushing MidJourney to provide what I had in my mind. Once a core collection theme was clear to me, it was a joy to be able to iterate themes dozens if not 100s of times until I had what I wanted to see in front of me on the screen.

With very little post production a final set of ‘runway’ images was supplied and judged. Spoiler alert, I didn’t win, but I learned so much from the experience that it was definitely worth the effort.

Below is my Collection Description from the (currently offline) AIFW site.

The Work Life Balance collection is a response to the dramatic changes we have seen in last few years to our working environments, to new modes of personal expression and an increased freedom to embrace gender fluidity. By merging traditionally masculine workwear silhouettes with historically feminine fabrics and colors, AI has allowed me to design a range of beautiful yet functional pieces for the customer of 2024 to wear to “work” each day. The target demographic is a diverse group of fun, open, empowered and assertive individuals, and when they choose to go outside they carry reinterpretations of a worker’s tool bag, backpack and duffel bag.
